Jeff Black is a life-long resident of Willoughby where he resides with his wife and three children. He graduated from South High School, The Ohio State University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He is currently the councilman-at-large in Willoughby and works in the Willoughby Municipal Court as an acting Judge and Magistrate. He is also currently the Chairman of the Lake County Public Defender’s Commission.

Jeff has been handling legal matters for clients over 20 years. He measures his success by the large volume of new clients that have been referred by past clients. He gives every case a personalized level attention, treats all clients fairly and honestly and fights hard for their rights. His primary practice areas include Personal Injury, Divorce, Juvenile & Family Law and Criminal & Traffic cases.  He also represents clients with small business legal concerns, wills and estate matters and landlord-tenant issues.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jeff Black worked as a commercial claims adjuster for the Aetna Insurance company. It was with Aetna that Jeff learned how insurance companies defend and evaluate injury claims. This unique insight has allowed Black to excel at representing injured clients needing and deserving to be compensated by an insurance company. His claims experience gives Black the ability to effectively communicate his client’s concerns to the insurance. The result of this communication is a maximum settlement for his injured client.

During the early years of Jeff Black’s legal career, he learned divorce and family law from one of the most experienced and respected divorce attorneys in Lake County. Over the last 20 years of representing clients in divorce, dissolution and juvenile proceedings, he has gone on to become one of Lake County’s most experienced and respected family law attorneys. He has represented hundreds of individuals going through divorce, custody, support and dissolution disputes.

Black’s practice has evolved to the point that he now is more selective in the types of criminal law cases that he accepts. All potential cases are evaluated along with his partner, ex-Lake County Prosecutor Michael Murray. Together, they provide the accused his or her best opportunity to ensure a fair legal process. Their years of representing accused individuals and trial experience make them uniquely qualified to represent defendants.

Along with a busy legal career, Jeff spends his personal time coaching and watching his children play baseball, basketball and football.
